The Kelp Shack
A Private Coastal Dining Experience Amidst Nature
Specialised kelp cooking
The Kelp Shack events venue,
started in 2018, is an up-cycled kitchen and covered seating area, situated on the Atlantic seaboard at the Soetwater Environmental Center near Kommetje. I host small- and medium-sized groups, offering educational coastal walks, interactive culinary demonstrations on the preparation of fresh kelp, and delicious kelp-inspired meals, enabling me to showcase my products and the various ways of using freshly-gathered kelp in every-day meals.
Booking requirements
Minimum 10, maximum 30 persons.
All food groups catered for.
Minimum 48 hrs advance booking required.
After the event
you will have a clear understanding of:
how to prepare fresh kelp,
harvest sustainably,
nutritional benefits, and
what coastal areas to avoid due to coastal pollution.
My passion for kelp has given me an new focus on our marine environment and the incredible importance of the role of kelp in our ecosystem, not to mention the viability of kelp as an important food supply!
